Sixth Sample Cramit fuses an OTT-style multiband compressor with a multi-type distortion in a new free plugin for macOS and Windows.
Multiband compression is a popular technique in mixers, but also in mastering. In electronic music, the free plugin OTT by Steve Duda, aka Xfer Records, is often used for this task. It basically reproduces the popular aggressive multiband upwards/downwards compressor settings used by many electronic producers.
The technique is so popular that other developers pack it into their own plugins. Sixth Sample, the developers of the exciting free Deelay plugin, have now released Cramit, another free plugin collaboration with Integraudio.
Sixth Sample Cramit
Cramit is a new free plugin that combines multiband compression with high-quality distortion. The concept of the plugin is not brand new. It is based on the free all-time classic plugin OTT from Xfer Records.
Sixth Sample combines this technique with distortion and makes it available in a new free plugin. Cramit has a 3-band upwards/downwards compressor with expansion that can be controlled using sliders in the low, mid, and high section. There is also a solo and bypass per band.
Then, you get a distortion unit that adds harmonics before (pre) or after (post) the compression. It has 7 different distortion types integrated controllable with the type control. You can adjust the flavor using the gain, speed, and depth parameters. There is also an additional mixing section with input, output, and dry/wet mix controls.
The user interface of Cramit is super easy and should be able to be understood immediately without a manual. For the start, you get 10 factory presets available in a dedicated patch browser.

Sixth Sample Cramit is available now as a free download. It runs as a 64-bit VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (M1 + Intel) and Windows.
