KranchDD from the indie developer Kindza is a free experimental effects plugin that combines filtering with wild distortion algorithms.

Kindza is an indie developer of very experimental plugins with special concepts. In small but fascinating portfolio, you can find bizzare synthesizers like the DDZynth2 but also crazy effect processors that produce sounds that experimental, noise musicians will instantly love.

The developer also has a free plugin with which you can get a taste of its special, noisy sonic worlds. KranchDD is an effect plugin that lets filtering and distortion collide experimentally.

KranchDD is a free effect plugin that pairs a characterful filter with experimental distortion algorithms. The filter is multimode with smooth morphable lowpass/band pass/high pass settings. You get cutoff frequency and resonance controls to tweak the filter. Then, you have the distortion with different wild algorithms with a dedicated amount control as well as a multi-mode clipper.

Additionally, you can dial in the Pmod and Feedback to add even more dirty character to your sound. There are also gain in and out controls as well as dry/wet mix. On the lower left side there is also the possibility to modify the signal path. You can decide whether the filter is before or after the distortion making the plugin very versatile.

It’s a very crazy free effects plugin, one that allows for very wild sonic experimentation. The somewhat dirty and strange GUI design reflects the character of the plugin perfectly, in my opinion. A plugin but also an indie plugin developer not to be missed.

Kindza KranchDD is available now as a free download and runs on macOS and Windows as a VST, VST3, and AU plugin. No registration required.
