When it comes to high-quality physical modeling synthesizer plugins, it is difficult to get past the software products from Applied Acoustics Systems from Canada. With Chromaphone 3 or String Studio VS-3, they have created very organic, special instruments that are difficult to compare with other synths.

Swatches Update
Applied Acoustics Systems doesn’t just have commercial plugins in its portfolio. The AAS Player is a free virtual instrument that has been reduced to an absolute minimum. You can only play the sound pack presets with no tweaking options. Nice about it is that AAS bundles the Player with Swatches, a constantly-growing sound pack.
This contains a selection of presets from every commercial sound library published today. Thus, it includes sounds from Chromaphone 3, Ultra Analog VA-3, String Studio VS-3… So a kind of playable sound appetizer. The developers recently added new presets taken from the new Analog Orchestra sound pack to the Swatches library. It now has over 570 presets that can be played for free. And I guarantee, these are really amazing timbres.
