Oblivion Sound Lab Hex Drum is a drum synthesizer for modern drum sounds with a vintage character inspired by the legendary Simmon SDS
Drum synthesizer plugins are also a little rarer, although they are very inspiring when looking for drum sounds that are more flexible and unique than samples. Hex Drum from Oblivion Sound Lab is a new one that now increases the number of available drum synth plugins.
Hex Drum has 7 drum channels and uses a complete synthesis core based on the legendary Simmons SDS. For Hex Drum, they took inspiration from the architecture of the SDS but made it more flexible and deep. This includes more advanced editing controls, some unique twists, and more.

Hex Drum has 7 drum voices, each relies on the same modules: tone, noise, click, LFO, and output. In these, you can design drum timbres from scratch like in a normal Synthesizer. The tone section features three analog-inspired oscillator shapes with additional pitch, bend, and decay controls. In second place is a noise generator with a built-in filter. Great for snare sounds. Further, you have a click module, an LFO which puts the tone & noise section in motion, and an output. The latter includes a saturation unit, velocity control, stereo pan, and gain control.
Sonically, the plugin is capable of creating classic drum sounds that feel right at home in a modern mix. All parameters can be automated from the host DAW. So you have your sounds perfectly under control or you can go a step further and process the whole thing even more complex. For example with DAW modulators.
At first glance a great-sounding drum Synthesizer plugin that is simple, deep, and flexible. A nice plugin especially if you want more flexibility in your drum and percussive sounds
Oblivion Sound Lab Hex Drum is available now in 64-bit VST3 and AU formats for Windows and Mac. It costs $29 until December 15th, 2020 (regular $39 USD).
