Birdkids, a young modular synth manufacturer from Vienna, will expand its product portfolio in 2020 with a new wireless interactive controller named °Grid.
With the °Grid controller, the developers who stand for noble-sounding analog synths (Raven, The Bateleur, Unicorn Boom) are breaking new ground. Don’t panic, they’re not leaving their core business the analog.
This new controller will be birdkids first product in a series of handheld, wireless devices for creative, audiovisual applications. According to them, it’s an interactive controller that enables the user to experience the rich world of creative Apps, as never before. It invites you to play keys, make beats, remix, VJ and more on any device. It pairs with any iOS, Android, PC, and Mac device wirelessly or via the onboard USB-C port for the ultimate hands-on experience
°Grid will feature 16 pads who are arranged in a 4×4 matrix. It employs LED-backlit, durable, pressure-sensitive pads and a unique multidirectional modulation joystick to enhance any workflow. A cross-platform, companion App visually maps parameters to pads and enables color-coding, as well as saving, presets for instant recall to control any Bluetooth® or Wi-FiTM enabled, MIDI / OSC compatible App or external Hardware.
The controller is a lightweight with an enclosure that is made of biodegradable materials in multiple color finishes. A high-capacity, built-in, rechargeable Li-Ion battery ensures 24/7 freedom of mobility and empowers capturing the creative spark — anywhere and anytime!
Birdkids °Grid will cost 89€ (MSRP). The availability of °Grid will be announced in January 2020.
