Before two weeks, the U-he development team released finally the first public beta version of the upcoming Repro-5 Synthesizer, an accurate and high-end emulation of the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 analog polyphonic Synthesizer. Often people naturally ask how good the emulation is.
The German YouTuber Marius Leicht released this week an amazing video where he compared the Repro-5 with the original Prophet 5 Synthesizer and where you get maybe an answer to your question. He divided the video in three parts: first he compared both (A vs B), than he stacked them together via MIDI out to create a Prophet 10 and finally he play it randomly without saying which one he play.
For me personal an excellent comparison video that show nicely the high-end and authentic sound quality of the U-he Repro-5 Synthesizer. Don’t forget to try the free public beta available on the KVR Forum.
Comparing the U-He Repro-5 with the real Prophet 5. In Part 1 you hear an A/B comparison. I tried to reprogram some of my Prophet patches on the Repro-5 as close as possible. Part 2 stacks them both together using the Midi out of the Prophet, basically giving me a Prophet 10. Part 3 is a challenge for you. I always play on the Prophet, but sometimes you hear the Prophet, sometimes you hear the Repro. Please leave a comment with your assumption wich is wich.
We are pleased to start the public beta for Repro-5. Repro-5 shares a lot of sonic DNA with Repro-1, but draws inspiration from an even more iconic vintage synthesizer.
You will find the familiar rough and raw sounds of Repro-1, but with a few differences, new flavours and characteristics. Most notably, of course, is polyphony.
Since Repro-5 and Repro-1 are family, at the end of the beta period we will combine them into a single product called Repro. One product, one installer, two synths. We are offering an introductory discount for the Repro bundle: from November 17 to December 31st, 2017 purchase Repro (Repro-1 + Repro-5) for $99. Starting January 1st 2018, Repro’s final price will be $149 (plus applicable taxes).
If you already own Repro-1, Repro-5 is a free update for you. Simply download and install the new beta and your existing Repro-1 serial number will unlock Repro-5.

I would like to compare the Repro 5 to my Prophet 6… But I might need a new MacBook Pro to do so! ?
