Superbooth 22: Erica Synths packs the 6-voice digital synth engine of the LXR-02 drum machine into a new LXR Eurorack drum/percussion module.

In addition to the completely revised SYNTRX II and the opening of pre-orders for the Perkons, Erica Synths also has a new Eurorack module for the Superbooth 22.

It’s a new multi-channel drum module that’s brimming with synthesis.

The core of the new LXR drum module (28HP) is obvious. Due to the great success of the LXR-02 drum machine with Sonic Portion, launched in 2021, both developers have now decided to port the engine into a standalone Eurorack module.

On the synth engine side, everything remains the same: 6 voices packed with rich drum/percussion synthesis, three of which can be used as basslines, over 30 parameters per voice, insert FX, and more.

As in the LXR-02, the individual synthesis sections can be selected individually with menu buttons and controlled with four knobs making it hands-on. A big black knob controls the menu.

The complete sequencer has been omitted. Logical, in Eurorack you want the freedom to use your favorite sequencer. The built-in one has been replaced by classic Eurorack functionality.

Each voice has its own trigger and accent input as well as output. Then, you get 5 assignable CV inputs with 1V/Oct tracking. So you can give your favorite parameter CV ability.

LXR has a microSD card slot allowing you to store/exchange sound kits and for easy firmware updates. Nice is that the kits are fully compatible with the LXR-02 desktop drum machine/Synthesizer. So you can export your sounds from the desktop and infuse them into the module.

First Impression & Availability

A logical step to port the LXR-02 drum machine engine to the Eurorack world. The engine has already proven its punchy, fat sound quality in the first LXR in the past years. And in Summer, we can explore the full synthesis power in modular form. It’s nice to see this. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Erica Synths LXR drum module will be available in summer 2022 for an RRP of 410€ + VAT or for $499 USD MAP.
