Besides the 2600, the ODYSSEY duophonic Synthesizer is one of the most well-known analog synthesizers that ARP has developed and published. The synth is available in 2022 as affordable hardware clones/replicas from Korg or Behringer, but also as emulations in software form.
One comes from Dave Spiers’ software company Gforce Software and is called ODDITY2. And you can get it currently with a big discount of 72% OFF for $29,99 USD instead of 129€.

The ODDITY2 is an authentic emulation of the vintage ARP Odyssey. Gforce Software has not only created a simple emulation here but an Odyssey with extended modern features. It gives you the classic two-syncable oscillators that are fully tuneable across a six-octave range. Plus, you can beef the signal up with a sub-oscillator. Then, you get all three Odyssey revision filters including two resonant 24dB/octave lowpass filters and a 12dB/oct version. There is also a high-pass filter.
ODDITY 2 also comes with the beloved ring modulator and an onboard delay. It benefits from a wide range of different modulations including additional XLFO and XADSRs envelopes. Something the original didn’t have.
The big highlight is here the option to play the ODDITY2 in monophonic, duophonic, and polyphonic. So you get a polyphonic Odyssey. To enhance this functionality, the GForce Software developers added spread and random pan modes. Another function that the original didn’t have were presets. It comes with over 1000 categorised presets ranging from basses, leads, FX, pads, and more.
ODDITY2 belongs to my favorite ARP Odyessy emulations. I like it better than the Korg one, but that’s a matter of taste. If you search an affordable Odyssey for your DAW, this could be the right deal for you.
GForce Software ODDITY2 is available now for $29,99 USD for a limited time (Thursday, May 26th, 2022 6:59AM). It runs as a VST, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (Intel + M1) and Windows. Attention: it doesn’t work with macOS 11 on Big Sur but it runs on macOS 12 Monterry.
