Sinevibes Skew, a unique non-linear reverser plugin for warping, scratching and glitching audio

SYNTH ANATOMY uses affiliation & partner programs (big red buttons) to finance a part of the activity. If you use these, you support the website. Thanks!

Sinevibes Skew is a new unique non-linear reverser plugin from the Ukrainian DSP specialist Artemiy Pavlov that lets you warp, scratch, and glitch audio in new ways.

I try to keep politics out of the website. Synth Anatomy is a one-man show that covers everything from synthesizers, music tech and electronic music. However, the current situation in Ukraine force me to break this taboo topic for the first time. Especially when you know that there are some very talented audio developers among those who are fleeing out of Kiev and other cities.

It is a tragedy what is happening there and I hope those reading this are safe. According to the latest FB page, Sinevibes have arrived safely at a new location. They’re even back to work and released a new plugin yesterday. The press release gives us hope for better times when we can all make music again in peace.

Sinevibes Skew

Sinevibes Skew

Skew is a unique non-linear audio reverser that constantly records the incoming audio into a buffer and plays it back in reversed parts. All this perfectly sychronized to the host transport. Here, too, the Sinevibes team shows its great talent for high-quality algorithms. It uses a newly-developed algo that warps its playback speed via a selection of six non-linear curves. From here, it bends the pitch in various ways.

Then, the size of the fractional size can be adjusted with 256 possible values from 1/16 note to 16 bars. Thus, you have a lot of sound design flexibility. Instead of a classic wet/dry mix control, it comes with a DJ-style crossfader.

Built-in lag filters gives you smooth and click-free adjustments on all continuous parameters. Skew supports mono to mono, stereo to stereo, and different stereo channel configurations.

Skew is one of the most experimental and craziest releases to date by the Ukrainian DSP specialist Artemiy Pavlov. The results are just as special. They range from rhythmically-precise effects such as reversing, tape rewind, pitch slides, detune, glitching, and scratching. And thanks to the ability to automate parameters, you can go far beyond that and create build-ups, breaks, and transitions.

Further, the plugin comes with a very clean, color-coded scalable user interface with built-in preset management packed with ready-to-explore patches.

I hope this war will end soon and we can hug our Ukrainian friends again. Please send direct aid to Ukraine if you can. The country needs our help to get through this terrible time. We are a community that sticks together, thanks.
