The revolutionary ROLI Seaboard Rise MPE MIDI controller will make a comeback under the Luminary umbrella and it will be “better than ever before”
In September it became known that ROLI had filed for bankruptcy. However, the entire company was saved under the umbrella of a new company called Luminary. The insolvency as well as the change had also an impact on the production of the products in addition to internal company structures.
Many products have been discontinued at music retailers because they are no longer available. One of them is the ROLI Seaboard Rise, which is very popular among electronic musicians. But there is now a sign of life from Luminary and ROLI.
ROLI Seaboard Rise 2022
The ROLI Seaboard Rise will return in March 2022 under the umbrella of Luminary in a revised version. More precisely they say: “reimagined, refined and re-engineered for ultimate musical expression”.
Actually, Luminary focused on the entry-level area. The Seaboard Rise, on the other hand, is a “professional” product. Either Luminary want to go two ways with ROLI as a pro-level brand or the ROLI Seaboard Rise has such high demand.
Luminary does not reveal anything what will be new on the ROLI Seaboard Rise 2022. I can imagine that we will see a revised keybed with a better feeling, possible MIDI 2.0 implementation, new connectivity options like USB-C or even CV/gate.
I’m very curious what the developers have changed. It is an exciting MPE keyboard which has always fascinated me. Looking forward.
Luminary will announce the new ROLI Seaboard Rise (version 2022) in March 2022.
