Newfangled Audio & Eventide release Generate 1.3, a free update for their chaotic west-coast synth plugin with new wavefolders, modulable effects, M1 support & more.
Eventide and synthesizers? That wasn’t a big topic until recently. But that changed how they worked with Newfangled Audio together again. The partnership resulted in two exciting, experimental synth plugins, Pendulate, a free monophonic and Generate, a full-featured polyphonic version of it.
The basic idea in both is the same: bringing innovative, chaotic oscillators with the essential elements of west coast synthesis together. Including wavefolders, low pass gates, and more. Two absolutely crazy synths. There is now a very nice free update for Generate with major new features.
Newfangled Audio Generate 1.3
Newfangled Audio has released Generate 1.3 that brings a ton of new features to this unique chaotic Buchla-style polysynth. Let’s start with two new wavefolders. The first is based on a bent model of the Buchla 259 algorithm, while the second is a newly developed saturate wavefolder. Then the effects have been expanded with the possibility of modulating the parameters. You can modulate up to 13 effects parameters thus even more complex, evolving patches are possible. As if the patches weren’t already very deep and complex, hehe.
The built-in sequencer also got a makeover. It now features new randomization functions and a pulse width output. Further, the delay now offers warp triplets and there is also a new stereo panning algorithm in the effect section. And finally, the good news for macOS users. Generate 1.3 also runs native on macs with M1 chips.
A very welcomed update for this experimental synth. If you are looking for something completely new and are open to entering into sharp, restless, bizarre soundscapes, you should take a closer look at Generate. I guarantee a wild, chaotic trip.
Newfangled Audio Generate 1.3 is available now as a free download for existing users. The plugin is available for $79 USD for a limited time (reg. $149 USD). Generate runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (Intel + M1) and Windows.
