In a new video for the Sense Music & Media channel, German producer Stimming explores the Vermona PERfourMER MKII, a modern classic of analog synthesis

The birth of the Synthesizer was analog and analog synthesis is still the most popular form to this day. This is mainly due to the fact that analog synthesizers, drum machines, have gained significantly in popularity in the past years. On the one hand because many prefer the hands-on, haptic feeling of such instruments, but also access has become easier. Analog devices have become more affordable.

There is everything now: inexpensive clones of vintage devices, modern analog poly synths such as the Korg Minilogue or Arturia PolyBrute but also modern classic. These have been around for years. Even before the wave of affordable analog gear. The YouTube channel Sense Music & Media partnered up with the music producer Stimming for a series of videos that put these modern classic again in the focus.

Stimming presents modern classics: Vermona PERfourMER MKII

In the latest episode, Stimming opted for a Synthesizer made in Germany, the Vermona PERfourMER MkII. It’s not a Synthesizer, no, it’s a quad Synthesizer. More precisely, you get four individual analog Synthesizer in one unit. Each of the four is a classic analog Synthesizer with a rich-sounding oscillator, a filter, ADSR envelope, LFO and VCA.

The highlight of the device is not that you have four synths, but how you can play them. It shows its true quality when you combine synth channels with each other. Whether with mutual frequency modulation or synchronization, the PLAYMODE or best of all everything together

You can play each voice individually, all together or sequence through them like on the vintage Korg Mono Poly via an external MIDI sequencer. And all parameters can be played without cumbersome menus or layer switches. The PERfourMER MKII is true hands-on Synthesizer with a beautiful layout and high-quality knobs.

Unfortunately, the PERfourMER MKII has lost some of its appeal in recent years due to the large number of new analog synths. However, none of these new, inexpensive ones comes to his unique concept. So I’m happy that Stimming made a very entertaining video about it.

Vermona PERfourMER MKII is available now for 1349€ and with the CV/gate option for 1444€
