Waldorf Synthesizer Plugins

Waldorf Largo

Largo is a wavetable Synthesizer that is inspired by the Waldorf Blofeld. No emulation but many points are reminiscent of the well-known desktop synth. Three versatile oscillators (VA or wavetable), two of them with sub-oscillator, two Waldorf multimode filters with resonance up to self-oscillation as well as different effects. There are also some fast envelopes and LFOs with parameters and all programmable from a modulation matrix.

It also hosts a flexible arpeggiator with 16 freely programmable steps as known from the exclusive Q Synthesizer line. Certainly not a highly complex Synthesizer, but one with a very distinctive sound.

Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V

Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V is an authentic emulation of the legendary PPG Wave Synthesizer, initially developed by Wolfgang Palm in the 80s. It features up to 256 voices per instance, 8 part multitimbrality, and 8 stereo outputs. The plugin ships with all the original wavetables but also with more than 100 new wavetables created by Wolfgang Palm. Yes, the original developer was also on board for this plugin. So full authenticity guaranteed.

It offers the same wavetable engine as the iconic vintage synth for your DAW. Therefore, it has authentic aliasing emulations of the PPG Wave 2.2/2.3/2.V or without. Two wavetable oscillators, recreations of the analog lowpass filters of the PPG Wave 2.2/2.3 with 12dB/24dB onboard that gives you additional character for your sounds. Plus, it has an overdrive behind the filter for additional spice.

Further 1 LFO, 3 envelopes, authentic emulation of the modulation graininess, or also the true PPG mode to name a few other features. On top, it has a built-in arpeggiator as well as a good set of effects (12-stage phaser, 6-stage chorus, flanger, stereo delay, reverb…). If you like the sound of the original PPG synths, you can’t miss this deal.

Waldorf Lector

Probably the least known plug-in from the Waldorf family is Lector. It is a full-featured Synthesizer but also a vocoder plugin. The plugin uses an analysis filter bank that splits the incoming audio signal into as many as 100 frequency bands, the intensity of which modulates the volume levels of an equal number of band-pass filters in the synthesis filter bank.

The engine can be played either with any external audio signal or with the built-in powerful 16-voice Synthesizer. Perfect for everyone who can’t sing. Two oscillators (VA waveforms or samples), FM & ring modulation options, filters, advanced modulations and effects like six-voice chorus/flanger, stereo delay, reverb & more. Everything you need in a good Synthesizer.

Lector is one of the deepest vocoder plugins on the market today. If you would like to expand your range of special synthesizers, this is the right place for you.

All three Waldorf plugins run on Windows and macOS including Catalina in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats. Largo and PPG Wave 3.V plugins also support Native Instruments NKS. The prices are the following: Largo ($29.99 USD), PPG Wave 3.V ($29.99 USD) & Lector ($34,99 USD).
