United Plugins Orbitron brings new possibilities into the modulation FX world thanks to an intelligent morphing engine powered by 4 flexible effects slots
The market for synthesizers and effects plugins is huge. The risk that you do something that already exists is big. Especially in the area of reverbs, delays, modulations, etc. But you can observe in the last months that developers are trying to break out of these basic plugins. This makes sense, since every good DAW already has a lot of it on board in large quantities.
Many now try to work with AI (iZotope…), some better, others worse, or with interesting morphing ideas. United Plugins has made the latter its topic in its new Orbitron plugin. Made in collaboration with JMG Sounds, Orbitron is a multi-FX modulation plugin that breaks new ground.

Orbitron is a multi-fx modulation plugin that hosts 4 FX sections featuring a wide range of effects including choruses, flangers, phaser, special filters, and more. Each of them has different parameters (depth, rate, width…) with which you can adjust the effect to your taste. However, that’s not the highlight. Instead of stacking effects on top of each other, the plugin has an engine built-in that allows you to morph between effects.
The main circle in the center of the plugin morphs between the 4 FX section. In sync with your DAW for musical timing, set to random for organic movements or in manual mode that lets you blend between the 4 sections. This allows you to discover new inspiring effects. This can be used to design complex textures or rhythmic modulations that sound like no other modulation effect. Or how United Plugins says ” say goodbye to boring and lifeless sounds and inject some movement into your music”.
Orbitron ships with a huge number of presets with which you can get to know the engine. This ensures a smooth start in your morphing sound design adventures.
Clever Additions
There is one more thing that is clever. The plugin has a click- & noiseless bypass functionality that makes automating the parameters very smooth. It also compensates for latency ensuring that the bypass states are perfectly in sync with each other. It also intelligently detects whether it makes sense to perform processing at all. And if not, it temporarily turns on sleep mode. In such a state, it requires virtually no CPU at all saves the computing sources for other processes.
No iLok…
Many will be happy to hear the news. No iLok, no dongle nor internet access is required to activate the plugin. United Plugins uses a classic and simple license file to activate the plugin. You can freely use the purchased software on all your computers without annoying restrictions.
I am happy to see that developers are daring something new and are not limited to classic effects. Yes, the plugin has many classic effect types, but the morphing idea makes the whole thing much more experimental and exciting.
United Plugins Orbitron is available now for an introductory price of 29€ instead of 129€. This offer is valid until March 9, 2021.
