Synapse Audio has updated its beloved DUNE Synthesizer plugin to version 3.4 with Apple M1 support, sample playback, a new comb filter & more.
With the new M1, Apple has started a new area. Faster, longer battery times, often without a fan, etc. That what we know in smartphones/tablets is now available in the first M1 Macs. However, this change has the consequence that manufacturers have to rewrite their existing codes for DAWs, plugins, etc.
The change is going faster than expected. Synapse Audio announced today that their popular Dune 3 Synthesizer plugin is now running on M1. There are also some new features that are worth mentioning.

Besides the support with the Apple Silicon architecture, Synapse Audio has also added some good features in Dune 3.4. The update introduces the ability to load WAV files in 16, 24, and 32-bit wav files between 44.1 and 192 kHz sample rate (mono/stereo). This can be achieved via oscillator 3 where you can set the loop region in a dedicated editor. A nice addition that expands the sound spectrum of DUNE 3.
Then, it comes with a new high-quality comb filter with key tracking, a new skin, and additional patches for the factory library. The comb filter is always a good alternative to the classic ones because it adds a different timbre to your sounds. In good settings, it can sound like a physical modeling synth. But be careful if you use it incorrectly it can lead to blatant noise.
All in all, a nice free update that makes DUNE 3 more powerful and versatile.
Further, the developer has published a new soundset for DUNE 3 with 133 new complex presets designed by Alex “Butcher” Metzger. They cover a wide range of music genres like Electro, Leftfield, R&B / Funk, Breakdance, House, Hip Hop, and many more types of modern electronic downtempo music.
Synapse Audio DUNE 3.4 update is a free download for existing users of DUNE 3. The new Metropolis soundset is available now for $30 USD.
