Sample Logic re-released its Morphestra 2 library, which melts symphonic soundscapes with advanced morphing abilities in a Kontakt 5 virtual instrument.

Sample Logic has today announced the re-launch of Morphestra 2, a cinematic orchestra virtual instrument that combines symphonic sounds with advanced morphing abilities. The developers psycho-acoustic sampled over 22 GBs of content including symphonic winds, strings, and percussive instruments.

Morphestra 2 features an impressive 4 sound core morphing engine with simultaneous playback of up to 8 sound sources. Here, you can mix and morph these sources together and create unique new orchestral timbres. The highlight is Sample Logic’s proprietary morph animator, XY core mixer, step animator, and XY FX mixer which give you a lot of sound design freedom. They go far beyond what simple Kontakt libraries can do.

Morphestra 2

In total, you get over 3500+ morphed instruments & multis derived entirely from true orchestral recordings. Further, it has a hot-swappable FX chain technology built-in with which you can either round up or manipulate further your sounds. If you are out of ideas, Morphestra 2 has a randomization function that fully randomizes the interface. This can lead to interesting results.

Geared for film, TV, and game composers, MORPHESTRA 2 morphs together amazing psycho-acoustic sampled symphonic winds, strings, and percussive instruments using Sample Logic’s flexible multi-core system resulting in a dynamic world where music and sound design collide.

Does the library look familiar to you? No wonder, Morphestra 2 has been around for a while. However, Sample Logic has now re-released it under a different format. Instead of Kontakt Player, you now need now the full version of Kontakt 5.

In short: Kontakt libraries are often ridiculed as preset machines. That may be, Hollywood composers love them. But there are exemptions. Instead of offering static presets, Sample Logic includes in every release a powerful engine with which you can experiment for a long time. I’m not a big orchestra library user, but Morphestra 2 would be one that I would use. Mainly because it goes beyond the classic approach of orchestral content.

Sample Logic Morphestra 2 is available now for an introductory price of $89.99 USD for two weeks only (regular $299.99 USD). It requires the full version of Kontakt 5.8.1.
