SampleScience Toy Keyboard is a free virtual instrument plugin for PC & Mac (VST/VST3/AU) that features sounds of the Yamaha PSR-78 home keyboard.

This is certainly not a next-level instrument plugin but one that gives for sure some nice new sounds for free. The developer has carefully sampled and looped the sounds of the keyboard and built them inside an easy-to-use interface. In total, you have 72 sounds and 1 drum kit as well as additional features like a multi-LFO, reverb, or a filter.

To keep the plugin light, each sound contains only one sample stretched over the keyboard. The C3 note has been sampled for each sound, but in some cases, you’ll hear a different note (C1 or C2). To respect the original mapping of the PSR-78, he decided to keep the C1 and C2 notes to C3. Nice is that the labeled and looped .wav files are also available so it’s also a sample library.
