Osmose is an innovative Synthesizer & MIDI controller by Expressive E with a brand new built-in A.K.A technology made in collaboration with Haken Audio

2019 is the year of cloning and replicas in the Synthesizer world. But not everywhere. There are still many companies trying to bring music technology further. Expressive E, known for its Touché controllers, is now back with a new ground-breaking new instrument. Osmose is a Synthesizer/MIDI controller that combines a new developed 3D control technology A.K.A and the powerful EaganMatrix sound engine by Haken Audio.

A.K.A stands for Augmented Keyboard Action and is a new patent mechanism that delivers three dimensions of control on every key. The technology introduces a new landscape of physical gestures for musicians to interact with sounds. Every note can articulated independently with unique expressive possibilities. ROLI has already a keyboard with the Seaboard in this area. The big differences are here: Osmose is a classic keyboard that offers 3D playability and on top, it has a built-in modular Synthesizer engine, so it’s a standalone instrument.

According to the developersThe objective behind Osmose is to create an instrument that provides new expressive playing possibilities that keyboard players have always desired. Achieving that objective requires a perfect union between an expressive keyboard mechanism and a sound engine.

To Consequently, Expressive E has partnered with Haken Audio to integrate its powerful EaganMatrix sound engine into Osmose. Built from day one for instruments with continuously expressive gestures such as the Continuum Fingerboard, the EaganMatrix is the most powerful expressive synthesizer on the market.

Eagan Matrix, Modular Synth Engine By Haken Audio

Osmose features a modular sound engine that features many types of digital synthesis, including physical modeling, additive, subtractive, FM, virtual analog, granular and spectral synthesis. Plus, it comes with a large library of editable internal sounds that are all tailor-made to take advantage of Osmose’s expressive A.K.A © technology. The range of sounds is huge: acoustic and electronic timbres, from raw synths to smooth organic textures. Each Osmose preset makes use of the keys’ three-dimensional sensitivity in a unique way to create effects such as strummed notes, vibrato, legato, layered dynamics and much.more

Also A Next-Level MIDI Controller

Osmose can also interface with computers and other instruments as a MIDI controller with support for MPE and MPE+ sounds, polyphonic aftertouch, a Multichannel MIDI mode, and global pitch bend controllable from every key. The user can also configure the Osmose as a standalone MIDI controller from the onboard display, with no need to connect to a computer.

The aspect that Osmose also works on the computer as an MPE keyboard is very exciting for me. Every electronic musician has tons of Synthesizer plugins at home, some of them even have MPE support. With this keyboard, you can discover them from a brand new side and go even deeper in sound design.

In addition to the A.K.A. © expressive keys, one can radically change a sound’s timbre, texture, harmonics and effects directly and intuitively with Osmose’s front-panel macro controls. For the ultimate performance experience, the mod wheel and two continuous pedal inputs can also adjust the macros. The user can even adjust the sensitivity of the keyboard’s three control dimensions.

Features
