What Is The Synth Library Portland & Prague? Interview!

SYNTH ANATOMY uses affiliation & partner programs (big red buttons) to finance a part of the activity. If you use these, you support the website. Thanks!

Since Spring 2016, Portland has a Synth Library, an open space where you can learn making music with with electronic instruments. In May, the first Synth Library was opened in Europe with the same goal. I talk with the initiators of this project during Superbooth 2018.

If you need information about a topic that you can not directly on the Internet, you go to libraries that are everywhere. But what if you have deeper questions about specific topics of electronic music or programming a Synthesizer? Yes, you are trying to find either an answer on YouTube or in the various online communities.

Since 2016, there is a project in Portland that relies heavily on the community thinkings. The Synth Library, initiated by Alissa DeRubeis is a place where people can meet, learn instruments for creating electronic music and participate in a variety of workshops. Various instruments are available on side and visitors are allowed to experiment with them. Another goal of this project is to support women as well as non-binary people and offer them individual workshops. In May 2018, Mary C opened the first Synth Library in Prague, the first one in Europe with the same idea.
