The MPG-70 by Retroaktiv is a 7U rack-mountable controller for the vintage Roland JX & MKS-70 Synthesizer with the Vecoven 4.12 firmware and PWM boards installed!

Many Synthesizer experts describe the Roland JX-10 and MKS-70 as one of the most underrated vintage analog Synthesizers. This assumption comes either from the relatively low second hand prices (+/- 1000€) or because both instruments have a complicated operation that many people don’t like. For this reason, there was already a Roland controller (PG-800) at that time that simplifies the user interface of both synths.

Today, the developer Retroaktiv Synthesizer announced the MPG-70, a new 7U rack-mountable controller that features over 90 controls for direct access to the different parameters. But there is a condition that must be known. The programmer works only with units that have the Vecoven 4.12 firmware and PWM boards installed. Additionally, this new controller gives you access to the extra voice features added by the expanded Vecoven mods.

What The Developer Has To Say?

We are taking pre-orders for the MPG-70 7U rackmountable controller for the Roland Super JX and MKS-70 synthesizers.  This controller was specifically designed for units that have Vecoven 4.12 firmware and PWM boards installed.  The MPG-70 gives access to all of the extra voice features added by the expanded Vecoven mods.  This unit will work with stock JX8P, Super JX, and MKS70 synths, however some sliders will do nothing if the synth isn’t running the 4.12+ Vecoven firmware.

The module features 96 controls and several buttons, a front faceplate, and a rear sheet metal enclosure.  The enclosure allows the unit to be angled forward and set on a tabletop, as well as be rackmounted.  The controller uses the 6 pin DIN cable to communicate with the JX. The MPG-70 features a random patch generator, a scratch program generator, and the ability to select whether the upper or the lower tone is being edited.
