OB-X Neo Synthesizer – Comeback Of The Oberheim OB-X?

As our good colleagues from the Sequencer.de (Synmag.de) report, a new Oberheim Synthesizer may come on the market. As the colleagues report, there is not detailed information whether this device will be built and who will build this device. Will it be Behringer trying to clone the iconic 8 voice analog OB-X or is it Tom Oberheim. We known from recent informations that Uli Behringer has left the name OB-X reserved.

There are also the essential question. Will it be a hardware or software product. Since this is a rendering, it’s difficult to see on the video and so we can speculate if it’s hard- or software.

On the interface, we can already see this features:

  • Oscillators 1 (saw, pulse, sync)
  • Oscillator 2 (saw, pulse, env f)
  • Osc1 Freq, Pulse width and Oscillator 2 Freq
  • Filter (frequence, resonance, envelope, noise, 24dB, track, OSC1, Half, Full)
  • Envelopes (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release), Target (Filter, Amp)
  • LFO (Sine, Square, S+H) (Rate, Depth) (Filter, Osc1, Osc2, Pan, PW1 & PW1)
  • Control (Volume, Portamento, Spread, Phones, Unisono)
  • Voice Variation (Pan, Voice, filter, glide, envelope)
  • “Brain” Display (Data, Part 1, Part 2, Shift)
  • MIDI In, MIDI THRU
  • USB
  • OUT 1L, OUT1 R
  • OUT 2L, OUT 2 R
  • Phones

It will be interesting to see if this iconic synth will celebrate his comeback and in which form.

Stay tuned for further informations in future.
