It’s no a secret that Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmermann) and Steve Duda (Xfer Records) have known each other for a long time and are good friends. It’s also best known that Deadmau5 use near in every song the Xfer Records Serum Wavetable Synthesizer. Yesterday, he posted a picture on Twitter with a teaser of a Serum Hardware Synthesizer or MIDI controller. He wrote only in this post: “yeah yeah… you guys keep your skins :P” and doesn’t give additional information about this new device.

It would be very cool if a software Synthesizer will be ported to a hardware synth, especially if this will be a modern wavetable Synthesizer. Although we are currently in the wave of cheap and affordable analog synthesizers, a new wavetable Synthesizer would provide refreshment in the synth communities.

What do you think about this? Please let me know.

Xfer Serum Synthesizer:

The dream synthesizer did not seem to exist: a wavetable synthesizer with a truly high-quality sound, visual and creative workflow-oriented interface to make creating and altering sounds fun instead of tedious, and the ability to “go deep” when desired – to create / import / edit / morph wavetables, and manipulate these on playback in real-time.
