UVI makes existing customers happy. They have today released a massive free update for its older Kroma sample-based virtual instrument that is based on sounds of the Rhodes Chroma Synthesizer. The new update features a new dual-layer synth engine called PolarX that is inspired by the Rhodes Polaris. It offers discrete amps, multi-mode filter, stereo, pitch, and 16-step arpeggiator. On the modulation side, it comes now with a new step modulator and LFO.

Also, the built-in effects have been updated with a new high-quality Sparkverb, delay, Thorus, Phasor, ensemble, and drive. The library features now in total of 350 patches made by professional sound designers. A nice update for this great sound library and also a nice gift from UVI for their existing customers.

Press Release

Paris, November 20th, 2019 – UVI releases Kroma 1.5, a massive update adding the brand new PolarX dual-layer synth, enhanced UI, and hundreds of new custom-designed presets. Built on the final ARP keyboard design, the 16-voice Rhodes Chroma, Kroma delivers a deep look at a rare instrument with lush and charactered vintage-analog tones. With Kroma 1.5 UVI were able to locate the Chroma’s 6-voice sibling, the Rhodes Polaris, adding a new instrument and hundreds of new sounds to the package; and are happy to make it available as a free update for existing users of Kroma, Vintage Legends, or any version of Vintage Vault.

New in Kroma 1.5 is the PolarX, a dual-layer synth inspired by the Rhodes Polaris, with discrete amp, multi-mode filter, stereo, pitch, and 16-step arpeggiators. Modulation and effect sections allow users to easily add movement to their sounds with a step modulator, LFO, high-quality Sparkverb, delay, Thorus, Phasor, ensemble and drive. Per-layer modwheel assignments allows quick mapping of commonly reached-for controls like vibrato, tremolo and filter depth, making it fast and easy to create dynamic performances.

Over 350 custom-designed patches are provided in Kroma 1.5, demonstrating the characteristically huge analog sounds of the Chroma and Polaris. UVI’s sound designers created a dynamic collection that covers everything from classics to modern styles, organized into convenient categories such as arpeggios, bells, brass, bass, chords, keys, leads, pads, plucks strings, sweeps and more. Patches can be quickly browsed and even layered together to create a near-limitless variety of stacked sounds that wouldn’t be possible on the hardware alone.

Presets in Kroma 1.5 are all built on high-quality samples from the actual hardware instruments and are fully-editable, allowing users to make everything from subtle mix-based adjustments to creating completely new patches using raw waveforms.

It offers native 64-bit standalone operation by way of Falcon or the free UVI Workstation, providing comprehensive support for all modern DAWs and simultaneous authorization on up to 3 computers or iLok keys.

UVI Kroma 1.5 is a free update for existing users. The library is available now for an special introductory price of 49€ (regular 79€) until November 25th, 2019
