Certainly one of the best Minimoog emulations after some time is the Synapse Audio The Legend. Not only an outstanding sound but also the complete interface is super straightforward designed. With the latest v.1.2 update, the german developer developed The Legend further and brings two features that becomes very important in today’s plugin world: NKS and MPE support.
NKS features allows musicians to use The Legend perfectly with any Native Instrument Komplete Keyboard and their respective Komplete software: change parameters and presets directly on the keyboard without looking at the computer. The innovative MPE (Multidimensional Polyphonic Expression (MPE) gives users a lot of new possibilities how to play The Legend. These new features doesn’t sound big but are super important for the playability.
Every component, ranging from the voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), voltage-controlled filter (VCF) and voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA), have been modeled to an accuracy never seen before in software. The snappy filter and amplifier envelopes have been meticulously modeled, as well as the massive bottom end – even the most marginal effects like temperature drift or effects originating from the power supply have been taken into account.
The most significant additions are the Unison and Polyphonic modes, allowing for thick stereo sounds, as well as enabling polyphonic play. Built around a vectorized core, The Legend is capable of synthesizing four voices for the cost of little more than a single voice, making it a highly efficient analog-modeling synthesizer plug-in.
