Today, the next company has announced to venture into this market. The Swedish company Propellerhead Software announced today Rack Extension plugin subscriptions for the Reason DAW. Beside the the classical way to sell a product, they now offer also a new way to discover a maximum of new rack extensions.
The new subscription model allows users of Reason to build their own plugin bundle that fit perfectly to their needs. Since you can exchange the rack extensions each month, this version of the subscription model is more interesting than others. So you can specially use a Rack extension for a song without buying the whole price of the instrument.
With plans ranging from $9 to $29 a month, the Rack Extension subscription plan will let you pick the Rack Extensions for your musical needs, and update your selection every month as your musical demands change,” stated Filip Carvell, Business Development Manager.
Reason users can now get access to and choose from hundreds of new instruments and creative tools from the leading developers at a bargain price.

Once you’ve selected your Rack Extension plan, you have 30 days to enjoy your Rack Extension selection before you get access to new plugins.
Users can choose between the following subscriptions
- Standard Subscription Plan: 9 USD/EUR (Up to $400 worth of Rack Extensions)
- Medium Subscription Plan: 19 USD/EUR (Up to $1000 worth of Rack Extensions)
- Large Subscription Plan: 29 USD/EUR (Up to $3000 worth of Rack Extensions)
