Beside Native Instruments, AKAI had also great news yesterday to announce. The VIP software is known that you can manage your entire plugin catalogue in one single plugin and on top creating new instruments by layering them together. Unfortunately, this was only possible with the big AKAI Advanced keyboards (in review currently). Now the company announced a big news for their VIP software. With the new version 3, AKAI opens this software to everyone and users can now use it with any other keyboard available. The new NKS plugin standard by Native Instruments is good known now in the software community. AKAI goes a similar way and published beside this new release the VIPMS format, the VIP Native Plugin map standard that allows 3rd party virtual and effect developers to produce their own plugin maps for enhanced VIP integration. The sample library developer EastWest will be the first company that will support the format in their plugins.
I have currently an AKAI Advanced keyboard in review, so it will be interesting to see how the new software works and if this is an interesting competitor to the NKS format from Native Instruments. Looking forward to checking out it.
