The number of available sounds or pieces of music is often dependent on the amount of available memory on storage media. Often music instruments, smartphones and other devices allows to extend their storage with SD and microSD cards. Until recently it was possible to store only some gigabytes on such media.

At this years IFA in Berlin, the storage developer SanDisk has presented a very interesting microSD card which can change a lot in the music in my opinion. With the new card, it’s possible to transport up to 400 GB of media on a very small storage device.

The card is certainly not cheap but it can be interesting if you use it in the music. So you can save almost 100,000 songs or a lot of samples on it. With this new card, it would be amazing to see more sampler instruments with microSD support. In this case, you can have 400 GB of sample content ready-to-use on a single card in your sampler. It will be also interesting to see if you can use this card with the upcoming GR-1 hardware granular sampler from Tasty Chips Electronics. It would interest me how well this card works in my daily music life.

Features:

  • Capacity: 400 GB
